Mother’s Day BBQ and Mass, May 11
On Thursday May 11 mothers, grandmothers, aunties and women significant to our students, gathered under the trees at De La Salle College for the Mother’s Day breakfast before moving across the road to St Vincent’s Parish for a beautiful Eucharistic celebration. This is the third time the Colleges have celebrated this as a combined event and it was a huge success. There were bigger crowds than in previous years and the weather and the atmosphere were wonderful. It was lovely to see so many of our Year 12 parents attending this milestone event with their daughters.
Bethlehem College teachers: Ms Moodey, Mrs Anderson, Miss Beaumont and Mr True and Year 12 SRC students and Prefects organised the BBQ – bacon and egg rolls, and juice while teachers and Hospitality students from De La Salle College served the coffee and tea. The smell along Bland Street was amazing, capturing the attention of passers by.
After a large group photo everyone moved across the road for a mass with the St Vincent’s Catholic Parish community led by Father Alan. Students from both schools shared roles in the mass and the singing from Bethlehem College was beautiful. The mass finished with a blessing of the mothers and the presentation of a lovely flower and some seeds to plant in gardens at home.
I hope that all mothers had a wonderful Mother’s Day and that your children showed you how much they love and care for you.
