On Tuesday 8 August Bethlehem STEM students from Years 9 and 10 participated in the University of Newcastle Science and Engineering Challenge at Sydney Olympic Park.
This is an annual competition in which schools around Australia complete eight different engineering tasks that require problem solving skills, critical thinking and collaboration within the team. The tasks varied from finding an efficient way to supply a city with electricity, to making a model prosthetic hand to building a bridge that could support the biggest load.
The Bethlehem team won one of the eight challenges and finished in 6th place overall on the day! The organisers commented on how pleasant it was to work with our girls and how they enjoyed working on their challenges.
We were very proud of our team’s effort. Congratulations to all students who represented the College and their teachers Mrs Price and Ms Quinn.
