Year 7 2019 Orientation Days (19-20 November 2018)
On Monday, November 19 we welcomed the Year 6 students who will become Year 7, 2019 to their Orientation Days. The students have come from
our Catholic Feeder primary schools, other Catholic Primary schools and State schools. The girls and their families were welcomed by our Junior
SRC who acted as excellent ambassadors showing the girls and their parents to the hall for registration and the information session.
Day 1 began with a meeting for the parents and students in the College hall. Prior to the meeting, the students and their families were entertained by the lively “On the Block” band under the direction of the new Director, Mrs Smart. The guests were welcomed by our College President Esther Nwosu and
College Vice President, Romina Bava who spoke beautifully about their experiences as students at Bethlehem College. Included in the welcome
was a multicultural greeting from a number of our senior students who are also proficient in other languages.
Bethlehem College is blessed to have a very multicultural community with over 43 languages spoken among members of our community. Mr True the 2019 Year 7 Coordinator addressed the audience about a number of important issues including the Year 7 Camp and the College BYOD program. His address was followed by an upbeat fashion parade of the uniforms of the College modelled by some of our Year 7 students.
The information session concluded with presentations by myself and Mrs Anderson. The Year 6 students were then divided into smaller groups led by our Senior and Junior SRC and moved into a range of fun activities around the theme of community. They enjoyed morning tea provided by the canteen and BBQ lunch coordinated by a number of staff volunteers. The girls left for the day happy and with a greater understanding of life at Bethlehem College.
Day 2, Tuesday, November 20 the Year 6 students returned to the College for Placement testing. By all accounts they were very calm throughout the examinations and all did their very best. The results of the testing should be made available to parents within the next two weeks.
We look forward to working with our new year 7 students in 2019.
